Frank has a hard time focusing on “boring” stuff. If it requires sustained, effortful attention, it’s not going to happen without a whole lot of environmental, behavioral, and motivational strategies in place. Instead of  writing the topic sentence of his … Continue reading →

“So what was your favorite part of vacation?” I asked my 6 year old near the end of our July road-trip. My son started giggling. “The time when you randomly took off your dress in front of all of us … Continue reading →

Meet Dr. Shiels

Angelica Shiels is a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in the Baltimore-Annapolis-DC area. She sees adults, couples, teens, and kids. Dr. Shiels is also a wife and a mother of three boys. When she isn't ninja-fighting, catching frogs, or cleaning messes around the toilet, she enjoys spending time on her own couch, which she wishes was yellow, but is actually brown and falling apart on account of three milk-spilling ninjas.

Dr. Shiels really enjoys her job outside of the house, where kids, teens, adults, and couples can sit on a nice leather couch where no gogurt is ever squeezed.

Dr. Shiels is the co-author of two children's self-help books and her writing has been featured on Psych Central, Lifehack, Sammiches and Psych Meds, Reality Moms, BonBon Break, Scary Mommy, Blunt Moms, Mamapedia, and others.
